Floriculture has traditionally been the speciality of the Netherlands, which serves the world market through its famous flower auctions. In 2000, Romero Invest BV from the Netherlands, with assistance of the Dutch government, invested in the development of floriculture in the Republic of Macedonia. Today, Romero Makedonija doo operates 6 hectares of greenhouses, planted mainly with roses with additional production of lilies, chrysanthemum and spring flowers. Daily production of roses ranges between 5.000 and 15.000 stems and find their way to the market through wholesalers in Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria and other countries in South-East Europe.
